The Weirdest Thing….

Weirdest?  Sure, before January of 2017, this would have been weird beyond belief.

In those days, the only way a politician could the trust and respect of voters was to impress them with things like the speaker’s intelligence, honesty, compassion, and commitment to the well-being of all Americans.  Now, 42% of voters have no interest in or understanding of anything whatever object of  hate is headlining the news.

The 17-year-old who shot and killed two men marching in Kenosha, Wisconsin is now a folk hero for protecting American liberty; last week, his mother received a standing ovation at an event sponsored by the Republican Women of Waukesha County.

At his rallies, Trump’s supporters cheer madly, even though according to fact-checkers, 67% of the claims that Trump makes at those venues are false.  For example, when Trump said, in Michigan no less, that Michiganders are the beneficiaries of the opening of 22 brand new auto manufacturing plants, they went ape, when in fact, not a single one had opened.

Centrist Sleepy Joe is now a scoffed as a “socialist,” and human vermin are infesting our country, flooding across our borders (though illegal immigration has been falling steadily since 2007)  We have the cleanest air and water ever (no we don’t), and American is once again respected around the world (sorry, but pity, contempt, ridicule, and distrust are not signs of respect).

America’s quest for sane and honest leadership took a wrong turn in 2016; let’s hope for a course correction in November.
