Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty

Vancouver became the first city to sign an initiative called the “Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty,” an effort along the lines of earlier global agreements that the world put into place to prevent nuclear war and the destruction of Earth’s ozone layer.

The Paris Accord has similar aims, though it doesn’t specify how and when fossil fuels should be phased out.
